NewsNet network shuts down

NewsNet abruptly went dark on August 2, 2024 after just over 5 years on air. The news channel, operating out of Cadillac and Farmington Hills, MI, aired on owner Bridge Media's 50 low-power stations around the country and on other independent stations considered affiliates. The network employed approximately 80 employees, all of whom were laid off when operations ceased.

Love to see that wbrc has brought back the old 6 logo from the 80s and 90s also the last track the Palmer news package was used during the late eighties and nineties as well.
Kinda hoped they would keep their 2012 updates. I like Dispatch, but that’s WABC’s thing. The OG tracks also work really well.

The only knowledge i know about NewsNet is that they produced local newscasts for Anchorage, Alaska and most of Wyoming. Wikipedia quoted from an interview with the person who run the network (i don't know their name) saying that it suffered financially and they can't keep up.
“NEWSnet. A channel… that used to be.” They had some great music though. Elevation still sounds great today.

No WLS Version of News Series 2000 Plus as a Closing Theme?
10:13-11:00 was KABC’s theme from 2006 to 2012 and it still fits to this day but ever since then, the station keeps changing the themes every time there is a new graphics package. The longest they sticked with a theme in recent history was for 12 years with the outgoing 2012 theme.
8:52 was KABC’s theme in the late 90s.

Same, 7:04 through 7:51 is what they should've stayed with. The outgoing theme, although 12 years old, still sounds amazing and timeless and actually works better with this package than the WABC theme. Still stunning they decided to copy WABC's theme. Not sure what the thinking behind their decision to ditch such an amazing theme that worked so well for them. WABC should've adopted KABC's theme for their outgoing package or at least KGO's theme thats seems like a nicer more refreshed fit for them. Thank you for putting these together! Hopefully KABC switches back! (I doubt they'll listen to us, haha.) But in other ways, now they get to be united with WABC I guess being the top two stations in the nation.

WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI used this for years! Reminds me of watching the news as a kid and rushing to get my shoes on to catch the school bus in the morning.
Still sounds as great and fresh as it did several decades ago! I would love to see more stations go the same direction.
